KU Bucket list

I haven’t been very good about blogging consistently throughout my college career. With classes, work, internships, shots, lacrosse, classes, beer, work… (you get the picture) I just don’t have a ton of time to dedicate to it. However, I feel this is an important post (especially for younger KU students) and one that you definitely need to read about.

When I came to college, there were so many things I wanted to do, places I wanted to go, etc. etc. Now that I’m a second semester senior, I realize I’ve done my fair share of awesomeness, but I’m far from being finished. I made a Senior Year Bucket List of things I want to do in Lawrence/KC before I graduate. But first, I’d like to make a list of awesome things in Lawrence that I have already done, and give you youngins some good ideas for things to do at KU.

Things I’ve done:

  • Seen basketball games in Allen Fieldhouse. Seriously, Allen Fieldhouse is like the holy grail of college basketball
  • Tailgated then went to football game at Memorial Stadium (an ENTIRE football game)
  • Witnessed the crazy pandemonium on Mass St. after defeating UNC in the Elite 8 and Ohio State in the Final 4 last season
  • Went to Dollar $ night at the Hawk and DIDN’T gotten puked on by some freshman’s 17 year old friend from high school (1 point for me)
  • Gotten backstage at a concert at the Granada
  • Saw Atmosphere at Liberty Hall
  • Went on an awesome spring break trip with some of my best friends to Gulf Shores, Ala. and New Orleans
  • Enjoyed many a sunset atop the Overlook, just south of town
  • Finished 2 schooners from Louise’s
  • Discovered the deliciousness that is Terrebonne Café

Things I want to do:

  • See a show at the Bottleneck
  • Swim in the Chi-O fountain
  • Get hit by a campus bus for free tuition (nah… not really)
  • Sit front row at a basketball game
  • Go to The Cave (I know.. seriously.. I’ve never been. I must be the only one)
  • Play beer pong at the Phoggy Dog
  • See a Tech N9Ne show in Kansas City…….. but only if I have big man friends to go with me
  • Ride a sled down the Campanile Hill
  • Actually walk through the Campanile (supposedly, if you walk through the Campanile before you graduate and don’t walk out the door you came in, then you won’t graduate on time… ummmm hello?? I’m trying to stay here as long as I can…)

No matter if you’re a second semester senior or lowly freshman (to whom I virtually grab your face and say “Stay here. Stay here…. as loooonnnggg as you can” *Billy Madison style

) you can all benefit the knowledge of my experiences here. Don’t take anything for granted, and don’t turn down any opportunities. Go see shows at the Lied Center (the shows are good, believe me,) join a sports club… or just a club in general. Meet new friends…just cause they don’t look like all the friends you have doesn’t mean you won’t have a lot in common. GO TO CLASS, it’s what you are here for. Never stop learning.  and live it up… stay out late on a night you planned on staying in, because really what are you going to remember? A spontaneous trip at 2:30 a.m. to the Legends Casino with your best friends or studying for that 3 point art history quiz? I’ll let you decide
